LIFE IS BOTH BEAUTIFUL AND CHALLENGING. OUR MINDS ARE HARD WIRED TO SEE THE CHALLENGES MORE THAN THE BEAUTY…IT’S WHAT HAS ALLOWED US TO SURVIVE AS A SPECIES.

Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) offers us the tools to be mindful of what is happening moment to moment. Some of those moments will be pleasant and MSC invites us to use certain tools to savor and appreciate those moments.

Some of those moments will be unpleasant. MSC offers us specific tools to care for ourselves and encourages us to utilize self-compassion when we notice thoughts, feelings, or sensations that are challenging.

Some of Life’s Challenges:

  • Health issues, yourself or others in your life

  • Feeling lonely or like you do not belong

  • Feeling unseen, unheard, or not valued

  • Challenging relationships at home and/or at work

  • Raising children

  • Caring for aging parents

By practicing these tools, we are better equipped to handle the ups and downs that life brings our way. We develop the skills to build stronger relationships with ourselves and others in our lives.

We learn to appreciate the beauty that is all around us always and to understand that we have what it takes to make life’s challenges tolerable by offering ourselves kindness until they change, as inevitably all things do.

Benefits of practicing Mindful self-compassion

Mindful Self-Compassion combines the skills of mindfulness and self-compassion to enhance our capacity for emotional wellbeing.

Mindfulness allows us to create more space in our lives - to really experience each moment fully. Self-compassion helps us to connect with an inner strength that enables us to more fully embrace being human and more fully embrace being ourselves.

Research has demonstrated that self-compassion is strongly associated with emotional strength and wellbeing, resilience in coping with life challenges, lower levels of anxiety and depression, motivation with less fear of failure, healthy habits such as diet and exercise, and more satisfying personal relationships.

As teachers, we play the role of facilitator.

we are not here to fix anyone.

We are here to empower our participants to tap into their own inner strength, authority, wisdom and knowledge.

Testimonials

I attended Lauren’s Mindful Self-Compassion 8-week course, as a mental health care provider. Lauren is a wonderful teacher - warm, attentive, and knowledgeable. This course was a wonderful tool for myself in further honing my mindfulness skills, and the tools and mindset learned and cultivated have undoubtedly helped me to be kinder towards myself. This workshop has also been wonderfully helpful and useful in my own clinical work with clients. I recommend this workshop to anyone, and have recommended it to friends outside the healthcare field as well as to colleagues.

Wonderful experience! Lauren’s kind and gentle manner instantly made me feel welcome and safe. Her knowledge and encouragement allowed for vulnerability, openness and resistance to exist without judgement. Undoubtedly, a life changing journey worth taking!

Lauren is a special person and was the perfect teacher to guide me on this journey. I was truly impressed with how she managed to create such a strong feeling of community with a group of strangers over zoom. I am not one who likes to talk in a group but Lauren established a safe environment where I felt comfortable sharing my thoughts and experiences knowing that I was always going to be supported and never judged. After completing the course, I feel empowered with the tools to navigate life’s stressors and to tame the critical voice in my head. I highly recommend this class. It was truly a gift!

My experience with Lauren’s 8-week online course on Mindful Self-Compassion was an overwhelmingly positive one. This was my first real effort in guided meditation and the outcomes never ceased to surprise me and the feelings that they brought up. I embraced the idea of “fierce compassion” in carving out the time for just myself on a weekly basis. The concepts and ideas were laid out in a logical progression and I also appreciated receiving weekly resource links of the material covered in order to engage more deeply independently later on. I was particularly surprised at how calm and tranquil I felt after and how easy it was to reach this state during our sessions. I still utilize many of the meditations during the week. The empathy and caring in Lauren is real and was a reassuring constant. I highly recommend this course as a first step to creating a new life-long practice.

I wasn’t sure about MSC but a friend convinced me to try it. I came away a true believer. Lauren was such a great teacher. I found myself looking forward to the weekly sessions and learning new ways to deal with stress and to calm that self-critical voice inside my head. The meditations and guided practices are tools that I have continued to use. Lauren makes you feel so comfortable and at ease with where you are with the practice of meditation and I often didn’t want her meditations to end. I would recommend MSC to everyone. Learning how to be more mindful and compassionate to ourselves is such a gift.

I am so thankful for the opportunity to take this class. It was a beautiful experience and Lauren has an amazing gift for teaching- her style is warm, approachable and accessible. She provides a unique blend of practical tools and has the ability to listen with kindness, intuition, and insight. Lauren is such a wonderful example of being kind and compassionate and has inspired that sense of ease and grace in her students. I loved the format of the program - each session was a layering of practice upon what we had learned in the previous week. In this way we could incorporate the skills we learned as needed and as they appealed to us. I had no idea how much I needed this program and how life changing it would be. I feel uplifted and more balanced, and it was a lovely journey that has continued to enrich my days far beyond the class.
